i'm a horrible mother.

i just realized that i might have eaten a piece of moldy bread today at lunch. i haven't felt sick all day until this realization hit and my tendency to panic was unleashed. so naturally i go to my friend google for "answers" on whether i've just harmed my unborn child or or not, and all i can find are a bunch of threads created by frightened idiots in my same situation. help?

You're not horrible. I am sure you will be just fine. I have that same tendency to run to google and then a friend pointed out that mostly listed are going to be the rare cases anyway. Do you still have contact with your old ob? I would give the office a call and talk to the nurse practitioner just to get reassurance or if you have already met with someone in HK you could do that too. Erin you are absolutely wonderful.

i think the little tykes are a lot tougher than we give em credit for. dr. hale (dad) says "stomach acids will take care of that." good old stomach acids. :) don't stress.

You're OK! (You're also funny and cute). The baby is fine. Think of it this way - everything on the baby has already been formed - so you can't mess anything up at this point. Now baby is just getting bigger and a little mold with probably do him good. He will be well-rounded. I can't wait to hear more about Hong Kong - and see pics. And you are a WONDERFUL mother!

I run into those kinds of threads a lot when I'm freaking out about something...they're scary! When I went to the doctor (Hagood) she just told me that given my lifestyle, (and yours and a Mormon) short of becoming an alcoholic and 5 pack-a-day chain smoker there are very few things I could do to severly harm the baby. My guess, although I'm not an authoritative source, is that a piece of moldy bread isn't one of those things.

well, since i've been pregnant so many times before... j/k i think if you're feeling ok, the little guy should be alright. but maybe i'm not the right person to ask! have you gone outside of your tiny little apartment yet? how are you liking it so far?

maybe i was being a little insensitive, cuz i know i would be worrying just like you if i were in that situation! so maybe you really should find out about that. sorry, i'm no help!

Erin, it's to early to have a bad track record. You know this is something you can't change your mind about, right?

Reading this whole conversation makes me laugh. I ate feta cheese (once or twice), had tuna fish (as long as it wasn't more than once a week), took hot showers and the like. Now, verdict is still out as to whether my children are "normal" but I know they were passed off with a clean bill of health before we brought them home and completely messed them up! If it would make you feel better, though call an ob or midwife. I strongly feel that you should do what's best for you.

Erin you are fine! And only a mother who DIDN'T care or worry would be a bad mother, you definitely do not fall into this category!!! No stress okay? :)

I agree with everyone. You know you're going to be a "bitchin" mom!

ERIN.... Listen to your nurse (jessica) she is a medical dictionary. she can and has given you sound advise.

p.s.

"dr. griffiths" agrees with "dr. hale".

old me.
