it's the most wonderful time of the year.

now with september outta the way, i warmly welcome october.

october = halloween
halloween = best holiday of the year (maybe only second to independence day)

love halloween. love dressing up. love haunted houses. love carving pumpkins. love trick-or-treaters. love parties...

i LOVE parties...

love dancing at parties, party games, party favors, a house full of great company, awesome decorations, festive music and activities... yep, i'm a huge, shameless loser. fox might hate me because of this when he's older, but it's a risk i'm willing to take.  someday when i live in one place for more than 3 months at a time, i'm going to throw lavish halloween parties. and new years parties. why don't adults have more parties? anyway. i usually have a plan months in advance for my costume, but this year i've been consumed with narrowing the possibilities for fox's first-ever ensemble. i've got a couple of ideas...

1. the luchador. as evidenced by a few posts back, we've already got the mask, i'd just need to fashion a fetching bodysuit of sorts, which makes me anxiously anticipate our imminent return to the big D and back into the tender loving arms of my sewing machine.

2. the mexican (not exactly PC, but i feel because i've lived here i now have some sort of right or justification, plus it just has extreme entertainment potential). also as evidenced by a few posts back, we've purchased fox a wee poncho... i'm envisioning a sombrero, a fake mustache and a burrow (saddle-up, gunth).

3. peter pan. i don't have anything yet for this costume (again, that sewing machine doesn't know what it's got coming to it), but i've got this picture in my head that integrates green tights into the ensemble, and i don't know about you, but something about seeing a chubby kid in wee green tights just warms my black little heart.

thoughts?  where in the world do i find infant-sized (well, plus-size infant-sized) green tights?

i heart this time of year, too. to celebrate october's arrival, i listened to one of your halloween cd's on the way to school yesterday. diddo on the parties. maybe i'll help you throw them some day when we live next to each other. i love the ideas for fox's costume! sorry i don't know which i like the best, but any of the 3 would be hilarious!

the idea of gunth as the burro puts #2 over the top for me. of course he would also make an incredible luchador sidekick. good luck!

that would be a definite yay on the plus-sized green tights for the little giant. possibly the children's place? can't wait to see what you dream up. whatever it is will be uber blog-worthy. i already miss those thighs.

soo...does this mean you'll be back to your sewing machine before halloween? yay! i like the idea of messican costume, but maybe we should try out all 3 just to see, ya know.

Ooh I just relish thoughts of Foxy in a Sombrero!! Hmmm...Peter Pan could be fun (Katelyn will be Tink this year). You can always just order girly tights in a size bigger and then get some handy dandy green clothes dye from Stop and Shop before you leave again.

Halloween is my fave time of the year too!! You should see my house. Our first big fight as a married couple was when Spencer spent an excessive amount of money elsewhere and we had no money to participate in Halloween, or throw a lavish party as in previous year. It was a very, very dark month. (Don't worry, we made it, and in subsequent years, he's saved pennies in Sept. to accommodate my October spending habits.) As for fox, I vote for the wee Mexican.

Sidenote: We doubled with Jaclyn and Casey last night. LOVED him!! 6 stars....three thumbs way up.

Halloween is my very favorite too. There isn't anything like it. I love the smell of Halloween night. It just makes me so excited when I think of October. It is so fun to find others who feel the same way!

Remember your snow beast costume? I would kill for a pair of those furry white boots....

And Fox will look adorable in whatever outfit you choose.

I might...might be able to score you a peter pan hat. Feather & all. With my fam always going to Disneyland they could get you one perhaps before they big halloween day! Maybe we could even get Fox's name on it. Let me know. I would just die to se him as Peter Pan. That's my favorite. And I love this year too...my b-day is always filled with haunted houses & bobbing for apples.
