chez burton.

i have to thank caitlin and dan, the previous tenants, for making some wonderful improvements to this apartment. i feel like matt and i are cheating, like we didn't have to put much effort into making our new place look nice. and other than our bedroom and some final touches on the entry and dining area, i think we're up and running...

had to include a shot of matt's pride and joy: the track lighting.

not a great shot, but you get the gist.

the kitchen, and matthew deep in phone chitchat.

fox's room.
poor child will never experience the comforts of a crib.

speaking of sleeping babies, fox is so hooked on iron & wine's "the creek drank the cradle" album that if he's not continuously listening to it throughout naptime/nighttime, he wakes up. i enjoy ethereal folk music as much as the next guy, but i'm starting to feel like i'm consistently doped up on tylenol pm or channelling some audrina patridge with my eyes half open and ready to roll back into my head at any moment. any suggestions for some new, soothing, parent-friendly music would be appreciated.

erin! looks like you have a gift! the apt looks amazing! lucky (said in a napoleon dynamite voice).....as for parent friendly music have you ever tried "sounds of nature" soundtracks...talk about soothing and relaxing! also, the music that they play at spas (you know when you go to get a massage) always always works for me!

your apartment is darling. are you the artist of that picture on the wall in your living room? (the one kind of in the corner) also the very cute picture of the dog in fox's room? i like them both. and whatever happened to fox's primary songs that he liked to listen to while sleeping? not that iron and wine's bad.

I miss Caitlin & Dan, but I'm happy to see that you've done their apartment justice. It looks fantastico - cozy, with just the right amount of "stuff". I love the track lighting & the light ball (what else do I call it??) in Fox's bedroom.

Your apartment is awesome! From the looks of it, Fox really doesn't seem to need a crib. Plus, crib mattresses are always hard anyway.

wow lady. your place looks great. you really get settled quickly! if you come to my house within 1 year of a move there are still pictures propped against walls.

i really like the hanging light in the nursery.

That is a pretty sweet place. Lots of character. Hey, at least you haven't put Fox in a closet yet. The day may come though....Glad you're doing well.

The place looks great. I wish we were half as settled as you are but I guess we are making progress. Fox's little nursery looks so cute and I am impressed you guys tackled the lighting issue-Bravo Matt.

Hope NYC is sreating you well.

I love your place and I'm impressed at how fast you have it all put together, especially with you hubby always gone and fox following you destroying all you put away.

skeener! the digs look awesome. what fox doesn't know about the comforts of the crib won't hurt him. he looks happy and snug. hope it's starting to feel a little more like "home."

Hey you, looks like you and NYC were meant to be. I knew it!
There are two sweet lullaby albums that I'm in love with...but my babies don't sleep unless they feel their mom's body heat, so they didn't sleep to it. Don't know how well they'll do in that situation.
Baby Mine and A Child's Prayer...I serve in the primary AND I'm not hip enough to even know who iron & wine is...forgive me.

this apartment looks so cozy and so YOU! can't wait to see it up close and personal. :) as for the crib situation, what foxxy doesn't know won't hurt him. looks to me like he is faring just fine. and at his growing rate, he will need a single bed before he needs a crib.

Love it...ecerything about it. I love the fact that it's in NYC too. Love the color, love the kitchen, & the exposed brick. Your home belongs on HGTV. Fox has got something good in him for loving iron & wine.
Try some of these:
Claude Debussy
Band of Horses
Blind Pilot
Calexico/iron & wine
city and colour (maybe)
m. ward
sigur ros

Try them on yourself first...to make sure you approve for the little guy.

Bravo! It looks great. I like what you did with Fox's room.

And for soothing parent-friendly music, I would go with these bad boys:

Love em.
