"that's a very 'mom-ish' outfit."

uh, thanks?

bless my husband's heart, but that wasn't exactly what i was aiming for.

it was just a punchy, sleeves-rolled-up red flannel shirt with a pair of skinnies... an approachable trend, innocent enough, lauren conrad pulled it off nicely, but obviously it's a fashion experiment i should not revisit unless i'm wanting to get my mommy on.

does this mean i should stop shopping at urban outfitters?

speaking of urban outfitters, have you ever walked in that joint toting a diaper bag and pushing a stroller and felt like the patrons and sales associates were silently judging you?  i can just see it in their eyes... hey, june cleaver, the baby gap is down the road.

look, ya beatnik, i used to be cute.  just let a girl dream.  and fail horribly at attempting to be trendy.

they need a healthy dose of shut-the-hell-up! you're fabulous and very stylish. iconic, even.

happy to be blog friends & welcome to NYC - & might I say, skinnies + flannel (with the appropriate choice of shoes, of course) is a perfectly acceptable choice of clothes. Tell your husband to watch more MTV & he'll understand. Mike oftentimes doesn't "get it" either.

ha. i think matt and scott are the same person sometimes. funny cos i just sported a similar outfit last week. weird. and yes, i too get the same feeling whilst toting around my wee one into trendy shops like urban. i can't go into abercrombie either without feeling like i'm there shopping for my grandkids.

Might as well hit ya with a "sweet spirit" comment. Keep the dream alive sista.

i highly doubt ANYTHING on the bod of skeeners would look "mommish" :P this is the woman that can wake up looking fab, i swear! :P haha but the staring glances with baby in tote....i know them all too well. i say, suck it. LET them stick their noses up at us! it's the high price paid for looking smokin' :P AND...we all know they will be right there one day ;) sweet revenge :P

Trust me skeen you look fab. If it makes you feel better I was docent at a show last month and in the same night I was asked if I was still in high school by one person. A bit later I met a really strange lady soliciting for her 30 year old son. When I told her I was married she asked, "are you happily married?" Talk about opposite reactions.
I, however, saw my wedding video last night and was kindly reminded that my gym membership is not being put to good use. If that weren't proof in and of itself, I walked into Lohman's hoping to score on some Hudson's or whatever is hip these days and I could barely squeeze my calves into the pants... I guess all good things have a few pitfalls.

If you are failing horribly at attempting to be trendy, I'm worse off than I thought.

that outfit is far from mom-ish!! oh matty, he should be grateful of your great sense of style and fashion!

Post a pic, I bet it was cute. Now that you're in NYC, anything goes...just remember that!

used to be cute?? puh-lease. ALWAYS adorable. maybe you guys need to come hang with us again, so mattie b can do a mental comparison. i'm famous for my lack of fashion and deep love for hoodies.

oh i like you guys. i agree with Dana, anything would look good on your blessed body, erin. plus now you're in NYC... you can get away with pretty much anything there from what I understand. :)

Believe me, I feel the judgment a lot. Often just before I get called ma'am. Sigh. But have you seen the SNL Mom Jeans skit? Check it out on YouTube. You'll feel better & get a hearty laugh. It'll make Matt feel better too.

I bet those snobbish gals from urban are looking at you & thinking..."freak. I hope I look that good after I have a kid, & I sure hope my kid is that fetching cute." Plus my dear...you can pull anything off. You live in the big apple now. Next time you see Clinton Kelly ask him what he thinks of your outfit.

I bet you rocked that outfit. I wish I had the guts to even try something new and trendy. I am sure my husbands' reactions would be the same. I need to break out of my oh so lame AE and Shade wardrobe. I need some serious help. I bet the look I got once when I walked into Hot Topic puts the look you got to shame. LOL.

And to answer your question from like months ago (I am terrible at remembering)...Lacie is doing well. Still working at America First as a branch manager and is going to pop out child #3 in June. Crazyness, eh?

you kill me. hilarious. i think on the days i don't make it to the gym, i'll just come to w.w.e.d. and burn some calories.
and by the way, i think you are putting eloquently into words what every mother is thinking. that is EXACTLY how i feel when i enter urban. or any other store where strollers just drag the pretty clothes off the hangers bc the aisles weren't made wide enough.

old me.
