thirsty?

kathryn snapped this off in disgust

in mexico city and most of hong kong, drinking the tap water was the hygienic equivalent to jabbing a used syringe in your arm.  no brainer: you just didn't do it.  but here in new york i've been told that the tap water is some of the cleanest in the country.  if that's the case, somebody please enlighten me: why does my tap water fizz like pellegrino for ten minutes after i've drawn it from the sink?  i've been drinking the stuff for three months now, and so far the whites of my eyes haven't yellowed, and my digestive system hasn't reared it's ugly head in protest, but i always think twice before pounding a tall, bubbly glass.  maybe i should just shut up and be grateful that chez burton serves carbonated water on tap.  lime rickey, anyone?

you are funny! Does the water come out of your tap with a lot of force? In my old apartment, the sink was kind of weird and pushed the water out through tiny mesh holes with a lot of force. It caused it to mix with the air that is naturally in the pipes, and it would look cloudy for a while. I think you are safe.

We have heard the same thing about the water here and yet I still can't bring myself to drink it. We had a filter on the tap for awhile but it broke. Now we've been buying big containers of water from the store. I hate doing it but it tastes so much better and looks less shady! When I fill a pot with water from the tap it's always a little cloudy and it freaks me out! Even knowing if there is anything wrong with it it'll boil out... Oh New York!

why...is that a mini oven/stove in the background? do you often dream of counterspace and being able to cook two things at once too?!

Mine does the same, except for it usually settles after a few seconds. Just shut up and drink it :)

The water at my mom's house is kinda like that because it's "soft"..? I think soft water is actually better for you and your skin and everything, but it's still hard to chug after looking at it.
