españa with the burtons.

so in october matt and i went to spain.  by ourselves.  we dubbed it an anniversary trip.  i think we've officially stopped celebrating our anniversary on our actual anniversary.  fate can smell it coming, and over the last few years april 23rd has usually been crashed by business trips, pediatric ER visits and miscarriages.  you know, super fun adult stuff.  so this trip was planned about as last minute as we can cut it these days, and i'm happy to report that the guerrilla warfare style ambush vacation actually worked, a million thanks to willing(ish) grandparents.  great success!

traveler's tip: i'm not sure i'd go back to spain whilst gestating; it's a culinary minefield for the expectant.  cured meats, unpasteurized cheeses, raw fish... my heart said yes but my fetus and my hypochondriacal tendencies said lay off, sister.

I almost had the power to will myself out of my house and onto a mountain top in Espana. What a place!

I love your videos and all of your video tricks. Such perfect music, too.

So, so good. Wasn't Familia Sagrada the craziest building? I also love the Spaniard lifestyle, so different from ours and fun to enjoy.

Let me just say that when I started this video, the music that was accompanying it was "Mele Kalikimaka" by Bing Crosby. I was really really confused. Then I realized, about a minute into the video, that my iTunes had turned on at the same time...

I loved this. And it made me want to travel somewhere other than UT. And I'll probably watch it like 10 more times.

Brilliant. Looks like a fabulous time. So glad you were able to go and make it all work. We stopped in Barcelona on our way home from the Mediterranean and I was so sick that I couldn't leave the hotel room. (Never travel through Europe in the first trimester especially!!!) So I had to see it all through Jon's photography. This was fun to see a little bit more of the city than he captured and get the look and feel of it.

Bueno.

Amazing Erin. Looks like you two had a blast! Robby often brings up the traveling advice that Matt gave him a few years ago.
