mother, forgive me.

i ate street stand food. in mexico. and here's the kicker: i loved it. and here's the problem: i can get it every night on the street below my apartment. can you find it in your heart to forgive me?

tonight i feasted on elote:

when matt first walked into our apartment with the big hunk of corn on a stick, slathered in lime juice, mayo, mexican cheese and chili powder, my face was twisted in utter disgust. at first bite i didn't fall in love, but by the end of the stick, holy elote! as i was polishing that off, matt mentioned that there is a tamale stand outside too, and i know i dig tamales. i got so excited i almost had matt cancel our dominos pizza delivery order. sorry mom.

Are you already in Mexico?! Man...here I am thinking you were here in Utah & then I read this. I was just going to e-mail you to see if I could come visit you in good ol' NOC. I guess I missed that one. I'm glad you are liking the authenticity. Best of luck me amiga.

Wow, you are brave! I think it is against mission rules or something for Joe's parents to eat at stands on the street down there...glad you are stomaching it fine!

I love the street food. Over by the US Embassy, there is a guy with a cart and a grill that makes tacos and they were the most amazing tacos EVER!!! Jer can give Matt directions. It is worth the bus fare and metro ride. I have to say, I was so excited to try the elote and when I did, I was not happy (Jer said we didn't get a very good one). I wish you guys would have been there last summer. We would have had so much fun together!

old me.
