two things that will shoot a blogging streak right between the eyes:

1. a major holiday.
2. a sick child.

it's just cruel when one and two coincide, but at least the sick child saw santa before the fever kicked in. we took fox to see the real mccoy at macy's department store in herald square. kind of magical, really. the whole process of waiting to see santa was fun -- trains, elves, music, christmas spirit oozing from every little snowflake of the display -- but let's discuss santa:

santa looks good, but something just feels slightly off. those beady little eyes... were they twitching? one coffee too many? or is this guy about to snap from too much holly and jolly and rub out the nearest elf? fox's reaction is typical for a toddler, but in this case i really can't blame him. i'd be wondering too why my parents would place me in the arms of someone who looks slightly unhinged.

but like i said... the rest = magical.

I hear they have 8 santas. We got a crazy too. He cut Eli off when he started his 3 item list of things he wanted. So momma had to intervene. Me yelling "he wants talking cars too" as we left the tiny room. Fun.

Poor Fox looks kind of like he just wants to crawl back into bed. And agreed on Santa. I think they're all kind of sketchy.

I had a similar experience in o town at the newgate mall. Santa was less than enthusiastic and said the exact same thing to all 3 children. He gave me the creeps. Anyway Berk got distracted in the snowboarding shop, so I bought the kids a pretzel to keep them distracted. As we were eating at 9pm I saw santas little helper a 20something year old girl missing her front tooth walk out of the mall with the creepiest, dirtiest, beer bellied man. Right then and there, I knew that he was the santa. Way to go newgate mall, is that the best you can get?!!
It was such a let down. I could have left without seeing that.

Looks magical. And the Santa is creepy. At least you can take comfort that it wasn't the real Santa Clause......
