tell me i'm not the only one.

the other day i went to home depot.  nothing special.  when i walked back out to the parking lot with my spoils, the driver's seat door on my car was wide open.  panic washed over me until as i went searching through my vehicle (iPod: check, and... um... diapers/wipes/goldfish/broken crayons: check), i realized that i had left the door wide open.  somewhere in between getting the kids out of carseats and buckling them into the stroller i went bat-poop crazy and just wandered off without closing up shop.  just walked away.  who does that (not a question).

i'll tell you who does that.  the same person who lets her toddler do this (and records it for posterity) (ps, i'm asking for a steadicam for christmas):

I don't know who to be more worried about, Fox or Gunther?

Ha! If I had a car I definitely would have done that already.

I let John and Evelyn scooter skateboard on NYC streets (he skateboards and pulls her along by the handle of her scooter), so basically, you're definitely not the only one.

yeah, i did that with the side door of our minivan. they announced it over the intercom at target. thank the heavens, i was able to shut it discreetly with my clicker from the front entrance while pretending to rifle my purse for a piece of gum.

"bat-poop crazy" is my new favorite phrase. ha ha!

love all your new movies. how about a "how to" tutorial sometime?

hahaha! I laughed and laughed over this vid. I love the people walking by looking worried too. Brave Fox and brave parents.

I kid you not I did this just today. Except it was the passenger door. I'm losing my mind.

And ditto on the "bat poop crazy" phrase. You should patten that stat.

Fox could not be cooler.

Dear Erin-
I love your blog- when I watched that video I laughed so hard my co worker came in to see if I was ok.... just sayin' it was neat. Oh I got this thing in the mail for a USU Intern reunion-- but I'm not going because you wont be there. end

First, I have to say that that video was fantastic!

Second, I have left my door open, my kids have left the door open and I have closed another mom's door when I saw she left it open. It happens.

I love your videos. What kind of camera do you use currently? You've inspired me to make more movies, although I doubt they'll be funny for the time being.

Okay, I needed that laugh (the video, not you - I've done that too many times myself!). Cute, cute Fox. He is awesome!

Totally been there with the car...I'm afraid it will only get worse, not better. And love the video...you are a fun mom and Fox is one brave boy.

You deserve that Steady Cam, my friend.

And Gunter. He's just the most faithful friend. I love him.

PS, how about the other day when I drove out of my driveway only to have Q turn around a few seconds later & just about climb out of his seat because I had failed to actually buckle him into his car seat? I win (2 points for actual child endangerment).

Erin! I am so glad you found my blog. You are hilarious. I have gotten a kick out of reading your blog, it's so witty. I feel like I have my fair share of absent-minded mom moments. This one is too funny.

That's the funniest thing I have ever seen! I felt like Fox when I dogsat for you in ny. Poor gunth' was large and incharge when I was around.

The screen name is misleading. This is Shannon.

Fox is so rad. And so is Gunth. Love Matthew's shirt.

Have you seen the new show "Up all night" with Will Arnett and Christina Applegate? The last episode I saw they left the baby on the front steps after loading everything into the car. Done that.

I was laughing so hard at that video Mackay had to come over to see what was going on. All she had to say was, "That was pretty weird." We, fortunately and unfortunately, do not have a daredevil on our hands over here.

old me.
