a typical (not to be confused with atypical) 4AM at my house.

fox wakes up screaming. matt gets up with him, fox says he wants lunch. matt says he'll bring fox a piece of bread... "a big one," fox requests (meaning a whole piece, not a half). matt fills the order and lets the boy eat the bread whilst in bed. matt stumbles back to bed. i'm afraid fox will choke, so i go in to supervise.

i walk in to fox's room; fox is lying in bed eating his piece and says to me, "i'm eating bread, mom. i love it." fox requests that i tell him a story while he eats his bread. i tell him a story. fox falls asleep while holding his bread. i try to take the bread out of his hand. he wakes up. then fox tells me we need to say a prayer, "for goodness sake." ?? fox rolls out of bed, thanks heavenly father for "mom, dad, indie, gunger, jenna, grampa clark, gramma jewey, fox, mom, dad, thank you for the food, in the name of jesus christ, amen."

fox gets back in bed, then gets back out of bed and joins me on the floor while i type this story up on my iphone. fox finishes his bread, gets back in bed, i tuck him in and kiss him goodnight. he's asleep before i leave the room.

the best part: i get back in bed, supposedly wake matt up to tell him about what just transpired, and make sure to ask him twice if he's awake before i dig in. after i relay the story, chuckling to myself the whole time, matt stirs and asks me in a groggy voice, "is this on the outskirts of reno?"

i actually really did LOL (usually its more of inner smile) as I also have a husband who says trippy things when he wakes up in the middle of the night.

This made me smile... I've been wondering how you are doing about now. Are you moved in? Did I miss the timeline of your life? Where are you now? Hope you are doing well! xo

you should have given him the WHOLE cookie, then maybe he wouldn't have had bread tummy. but then again, maybe it would have been a mess to clean up instead of bread belly because of the peach shake involved.........

Did I tell you yesterday what Mike did? I meant to. Maybe it's more funny to tell it in person, but I woke up a few nights ago to see Mike sitting up in bed, ruffling around with the sheets. And then I noticed he was folding them. And then I noticed that he was actually SWADDLING them, or swaddling an imaginary baby, I should say. And so I tried to wake him up, & he immediately began vigorously rocking an imaginary baby. When he finally came to, I asked him what he was doing. He was obviously very confused & replied, "I'm just getting ready to hold Q when he wakes up." My sweet husband.

Ha! Things like that typically don't happen at my house only because I am a cruel mother who refuses to do nice things like get pieces of bread in the middle of the night.

Awesome. I'm also impressed you get Fox bread. Abbi and JJ are unlucky to have me and not you as a mom. Jared says funny things sometimes and I like to keep him awake when he does so that he will continue the crazy talk. Try it sometime its funny.
